Bogang Jun is an associate professor at the department of economics and an adjunct professor at the department of data science, Inha University. She is also director of the Research Center for Small Businesses Ecosystem, funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea. Before joining Inha University, she was a postdoctoral associate at the MIT Media Lab for three years and got her Ph.D. in economics at Seoul National University. Her research spans economic complexity, computational social science, economic geography, and economic development. Using big data on population flow, trade flow, and labor flow, she has examined the development strategies for firms, regions, and countries.

Heon Jin Park

Professor Heonjin Park is currently a professor in the Department of Statistics at Inha University and an adjunct professor in the Department of Data Science. He served as a member of the Korea Meteorological Administration Meteorological and Climate Big Data Forum, a big data expert member of the Government 3.0 Promotion Committee, and a chairman of the Incheon City Data-Based Administrative Committee. In addition, the Inha University Big Data Convergence Course was established to nurture convergence talents equipped with statistical analysis skills. Professor Heonjin Park obtained a Bachelor of Science from Seoul National University and a PhD in Statistics from Iowa State University.

Donghyeon Yu

Donghyeon Yu received a Ph.D. in Statistics from Seoul National University in 2013. He is currently an associate professor at the Department of Statistics at Inha University. His main research topics include statistical inference for high-dimensional data and efficient computational algorithms. He has recently been researching deep learning-based generative models, anomaly detection methodologies, and deep reinforcement learning. He has published his research findings in journals such as the Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics, Computational Statistics, and Biostatistics. He has also worked on projects related to synthetic data generation and precision matrix estimation.

Bo Yong Park

Dr. Bo-yong is an assistant professor at the Department of Data Science, Inha University, and participating in the Center for Neuroscience Imaging Research, Institute for Basic Science. He received his PhD at Sungkyunkwan University with a major in medical image processing, and worked at McGill University to study multimodal integrative neuroimaging. His research interests cover computational analysis for multimodal integrative neuroimaging using connectomics and machine learning, and the application of image processing techniques to neurodevelopment, obesity, and migraine.

Jaeoh Kim

Professor Jaeoh Kim is an assistant professor of data science at Inha University, specializing in statistical machine learning and its theoretical foundations. He has a particular focus on the fields of defense and military big data analytics, as well as artificial intelligence applications. In addition to his individual research, Professor Kim collaborates with 23 academic and government experts to develop intelligent simulations to combat the threat of megacities. Furthermore, he is part of a research team working on augmented military satellite image data using Generative Adversarial Network and diffusion models, which have significant implications for defense and military applications.

Taesung Hwang

Taesung Hwang is an associate professor in the Asia Pacific School of Logistics and Graduate School of Logistics at Inha University since 2015. He holds a B.S. in Civil, Urban and Geosystem Engineering (Seoul National University), M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Transportation Program (University of California, Berkeley), and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Transportation Program (University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign). His primary research interest lies in developing mathematical models to address complex problems in transportation network design, supply chain management, and logistics systems planning in the context of enhancing efficiency and sustainability of passenger and freight transport systems.

Haktae Lee

Professor Hak-Tae Lee is a professor of Aerospace Engineering, Inha University in South Korea. His major field of research is Air Traffic Management. Prof. Lee’s current research topics include data-driven aviation safety, human-in-the-loop simulation of the air traffic system, whole airspace scheduling, and electric propulsion system optimization. Before Inha University, Prof. Lee worked at the Aviation Systems Division, NASA Ames Research Center and conducted various air traffic related research. Prof. Lee received his Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University on aerodynamics and aircraft design.

Professor Seong-Il Cho is currently an associate professor in the Department of Statistics at Inha University and an adjunct professor in the Department of Data Science. He has conducted numerous studies using non-parametric Bayesian statistics, and is a member of the IASC-ARS board of international academic conferences and an advisory member of the Army Analysis and Evaluation Group.

Jeong Hwan Jeon

Prof. Jeong hwan Jeon received the B.S. degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea, in 2007, and the S.M. and Ph.D. degrees in aeronautics and astronautics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, USA, in 2009 and 2015, respectively. He is currently an Assistant Professor of electrical engineering with the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), Ulsan, South Korea. He has been with nuTonomy (Aptiv Company, since 2017) as a Senior/Principal Research Scientist, before joining the UNIST.

Jungwoo Shin is currently an associate professor in the Department of Industrial & Management Systems Engineering at Kyung Hee University and an adjunct professor in the Department of Big Data Analytics and the Graduate School of AI. He conducted market analysis research based on econometric models in various fields, such as transportation, energy, and environment. In particular, his research focuses on deriving efficient strategies and policies under limited budgets. Before joining Kyung Hee University, he was a research fellow at the Korea Environment Institute (KEI) and a visiting researcher at The University of Texas at Austin.

Byung Duk Song

Professor Byung- Duk Song is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the School of Industrial and Management Engineering at Korea University. His research primarily focuses on the optimal design and operations of logistics, production, and supply chain management systems, based on management science methodologies such as mathematical optimization models, heuristics, and simulation. He is particularly interested in proactive research utilizing the latest logistics technologies and is currently investigating the logistics applications of emerging technologies such as flying warehouses and Urban Air Mobility (UAM).

Wonchang Hur

Wonchang Hur is a professor of MIS in College of Business Administration at Inha University. He is interested in understanding how ‘innovation’ originates, is accepted, and spreads in various socio-technological systems. Specific subjects include IT innovations in business, R&D management and the patent system, collaboration and social capital, entrepreneurship, etc. Methodologically, he is interested in the application of machine learning, network analytics, and computational methods in addition to traditional econometric approaches. His research has been published in Research Policy, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Scientometrics, Communications of the ACM, IEEE internet computing, and so on.

Suh-hee Choi

Changkeun Lee

Professor Changkeun Lee is one of the leading professionals at KDI School of Public Policy and Management, the educational arm of the top think-tank in the Republic of Korea. Professor Changkeun Lee’s research centers on economic history, labor economics, and applied microeconomics. Specifically, he works on various topics in industry and firm dynamics (US and Korea), technology and the labor market, and the use of administrative data. His latest research projects include “The Impact of the Minimum Wage Introduction on the Characteristics of New Establishments: Evidence from South Korea (2021, Labour Economics); “Job Reallocation in Korean Manufacturing: 1984-2014, (2021, Journal of Asian Economics), and a chapter in the Oxford Handbook of American Economic History (2018). Prior to joining the Korea Development Institute, he served as Assistant Professor at Yonsei University (2018-2020) and Associate Fellow at Korea Development Institute (2015-2018). Professor Changkeun Lee holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Michigan, USA (2015).

Jaehyuk Park

Jaehyuk Park is an assistant professor at the School of Public Policy and Management at the Korea Development Institute. After finishing his Ph.D. degree in Informatics at Indiana University, Bloomington, he received his postdoctoral training at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He also worked as a research scientist at the Core Data Science team at Facebook (currently, Meta). His research interests lie in the intersection of data science and public policy, with a focus on understanding the impact of technological innovation on public management and the labor market.

Chungeun Yoon

Chungeun Yoon, an Assistant Professor at the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, is an economist who has made contributions to the field of labor and development. His research interests focus on the causal relationship between labor supply and innovation, particularly as it relates to knowledge spillovers, immigration, migration, and ethnic diversity. He received my Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame. He earned a M.A. from Georgia State University, and a B.A. from Seoul National University. Before joining academia, he worked for four years with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the South Korean government’s foreign assistance agency, and spent two years in Cambodia. These experiences have motivated him to investigate empirical evidence from economic history and historical events such as World War I, the Immigration Quota Acts, the Civil War, and the Killing Fields.

Dr. Hyeyoon Jung got her Ph.D. in Geography from Kangwon National University. Her research focused on non-innovative urban industrial agglomeration at the Seoul Onsu Industrial Complex—an aged facility accommodating numerous small manufacturers. She is particularly interested in economic geographic phenomena and issues that appear on the global, national, and regional levels. Her research interests include industrial complexes and locations, industrial clusters, industrial governance, regional industrial policies, as well as policies related to small businesses and SMEs.

Hyoji Choi

Hyoji Choi completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in Materials Engineering at Seoul National University. After her master's, she worked at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology as a researcher, where she conducted research on compound semiconductors for optical and high-power devices. She later earned her PhD in Economics with a specialization in Techno-Economic Management and Policy, focusing her research on the geographical concentration of economic activities, including knowledge production. Presently, she is interested in exploring the socio-economic impacts of spatial concentration and networks in production and consumption. Her research employs big data and is grounded in the disciplines of Complex Systems Economics, Economic Geography, and Innovation Economics.

Joonyoung Lee

Lee Joon-young, a postdoctoral researcher, received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in geography at Kyung Hee University, and received a doctorate by linking and explaining the characteristics and place identity of groups that share tastes and cultures in cultural consumption spaces in the city at the graduate school. He has worked at KCTI(Korea Culture and Tourism Institute and Seoul Institute, where he mainly participated in research in the industrial economy, culture, and tourism fields.

Minjin Lee

Dr. Minjin Lee is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Center for small business ecosystem at Inha University. She is researching the interaction between small businesses in urban commercial areas using the ecological system model at the center. Dr. Lee obtained her undergraduate degree in economics from Sungkyunkwan University and her PhD in complex networks and urban physics from the Energy Science Department at Sungkyunkwan University. During her PhD program, she conducted intensive research on urban commercial areas and urban road networks as an external researcher in the Department of Urban Engineering at Hongik University. She also worked as a short-term consultant for the World Bank, where she was responsible for data analysis of World Bank reports on Vietnam's urbanization and industrialization. She is mainly interested in analyzing and modeling social phenomena using the methodology of statistical physics (especially complex network and non-linear system) and computational social sciences.

SeungHwan Kim

Dr. Seunghwan Kim received a bachelor's degree from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Nuclear and Quantum Engineering at KAIST and a master's degree in Management Engineering from KAIST College of Business. After receiving his doctoral degree in Technology, Management and Economics and Policy Program from Seoul National University in August 2023, he began working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Center for Small Business Ecosystem at Inha University. To date, his research has been focused on how companies accumulate technological knowledge in the technological space established through patents. In the Research Center for Small Business Ecosystem, he has plans to expand the scope of research to explore innovation at the regional and small business level.

JongHyun Kim
